Robotic surgery allows doctors in all fields capable of performing many types of complex procedures. Using this modern technology has helped assist surgeons, allowing the procedure to be more precise, flexible and have more control than possible compared to conventional techniques. Robotic surgery is usually associated with minimally invasive surgery — procedures performed through tiny incisions.

Traditional open surgery can require several days of hospitalization and the recovery time can last several months. While every case is unique, the capability to return to normal and the ability to resume everyday activities is much quicker following robotic-assisted surgery. The role of the Surgical and Physician Assistant is not only in the operating room, but afterwards as they assist the patient throughout the recovery period to help promote a speedy healing process as well.
